Fendsea revolutionises fenders and on-board organisation

On 13 January 2025, Ouest France highlighted an innovation from Brittany that could well change the lives of yachtsmen: Fendsea. Founded in spring 2023 in Lorient by Guillaume Labrot, this start-up offers a new generation of rigid or inflatable fenders, designed to optimise space on board boats with storage space inside.

An idea born of a simple observation

Fenders are essential for protecting boats when they are moored or docked. However, these cumbersome accessories often take up space without being of any real use when not in use. With a passion for sailing and ten years’ experience in the banking sector, Guillaume Labrot wanted to respond to this problem by designing a product that was both functional and innovative.

“When you’re cruising on a boat, finding space on board for stowage can be a real headache: bins, shoes, tools, coolers… everything has to find its place, including those damn fenders that take up so much space,” he explains.

A multifunctional fender

Fendsea offers an innovative concept: rigid or inflatable fenders that can be used as storage spaces. Thanks to their ingenious design, they enable boaters to store equipment in an organised and efficient way. This modular design provides a practical and ingenious solution to on-board storage problems.

What’s more, some models include a specific compartment for selective waste sorting, encouraging more ecological and responsible sailing. Fendsea’s objective is clear: to optimise space on board while encouraging a sustainable approach to sailing.

Mass production for widespread adoption

Following a development and testing phase, Fendsea has announced the launch of series production of its innovative fenders. This new stage should enable the Vannes-based company to appeal to a wide audience, from yachtsmen to boating professionals.

At the same time, Fendsea also supports committed projects, such as that of Thibaut Vauchel-Camus and his Défi Voile Solidaires en Peloton team. It’s a partnership that reflects the start-up’s commitment to more socially responsible and environmentally-friendly sailing.

Recognition for Breton innovation

The article in Ouest France highlights this initiative, which illustrates the dynamism and creativity of Breton companies in the maritime sector. With its multifunctional fenders, Fendsea provides a concrete response to the challenges of on-board storage, while contributing to more sustainable shipping.

A great entrepreneurial adventure to follow closely!
